Individuals or groups who wish to have a topic included on a Board meeting agenda must submit a written request at least five (5) working days before the meeting. The request should include a description of the topic and the reason it should be considered by the Board. Any materials intended for presentation should be included with the request.

Members of the public may also speak during the public comment portion of Board meetings. Individuals wishing to speak must complete the sign-in sheet available at the meeting location prior to the start of the meeting.

Public comments are limited to three minutes per speaker and should relate to matters relevant to the Board of Trustees. The Board Chair may limit the number of speakers, conclude comments that are disruptive or repetitive, or extend the time for public comment at the Board’s discretion.

• Be a U.S. citizen
• Be 18 years of age or older on the date of the election
• Be a resident of Illinois and the district for at least one year immediately preceding the election
• Not be a member of a common school board
• Qualifications for the student member are defined in the Student Government Association Constitution.

Trustees are elected at-large during the Illinois consolidated election cycle. Candidates must submit nomination papers, including:

• A Statement of Candidacy
• Nominating petition sheets with at least 50 signatures
• A receipt for filing a Statement of Economic Interest with the DeKalb County Clerk
• A Loyalty Oath (optional)

Election timelines and filing deadlines vary by election cycle.

Kishwaukee College District #523 does not currently have any vacant seats on the Board.
