Political science is the study of systems of government and political activity of individuals and groups. Because of the nature of government and politics, political science references a broad spectrum of other disciplines including sociology, psychology, economics, anthropology, history and law. Government and politics is often considered the very basis of power in societies around the world, so the study of poli sci is of interest to anyone curious society and culture of people in nations around the world. The research and knowledge base of political scientists is an important resource for special interest groups and those pursuing or holding political offices.
