The Kishwaukee College Registered Nursing program has received continuing accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) through Fall 2030. ACEN is a leading authority in nursing accreditation and provides specialized standards for all levels of nursing education and transition-to-practice programs in the United States and internationally.
“It is an honor to receive continuing accreditation from ACEN and is a testament to the quality of our program and the outstanding efforts of our nursing faculty, staff and students,” said Angela Delmont, Director of Nursing at Kish.
Kish initially received accreditation through ACEN in September 2017. To continue its accredited status and remain in compliance with current nursing standards, the College underwent a peer review process by an ACEN evaluation team, including a site visit in September 2022. The ACEN Board of Commissioners informed Kish of its continued accreditation in May.
Benefits of accreditation include improved employability of students who attended an accredited program, seamless transfer of college credits to additional undergraduate or graduate nursing programs, eligibility for state and federal funding, and more, according to ACEN.
Students in Kishwaukee College’s Registered Nursing program earn an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Registered Nursing while preparing for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). In 2022, Kishwaukee College students had an overall first-time pass rate of 83% for the NCLEX-RN, which is higher than state and national averages.
