Kishwaukee College’s Engineering, Math & Science Academy (EMSA) will hold two upcoming
information sessions for the 2023-2024 academic year.
- 5:30-6:30 pm Wednesday, Nov. 16, in C1121 or via Zoom
- 5:30-6:30 pm Tuesday, Dec. 6, in C1121 or via Zoom
The information sessions are open to current high school sophomores and juniors along
with their parents/guardians.
EMSA offers high school students the opportunity to take college-level courses in
STEM-related fields — including physics, mathematics, chemistry, anatomy and physiology,
and biology — to prepare for various careers. The program offers three unique tracks
in engineering, pre-professional, and — new for the upcoming year — pre-nursing. The
pre-nursing track is designed for students pursuing a nursing career, especially those
interested in starting at Kishwaukee College before transferring to complete a four-year
nursing degree. Students completing the pre-nursing track will be able to move straight
into Kish’s Registered Nursing associate degree program following graduation from
high school.
Depending on their chosen track, students may need to complete pre-calculus or chemistry
with a “B” grade or better to be considered eligible for the program. Students can
earn up to 23 transferable credit hours through EMSA. Past Kish EMSA students have
transferred to some of the top schools in the country, including the University of
Illinois, Purdue University, Georgia Tech and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
The information session will overview the program, explain the application process
and answer questions for students and parents/guardians. Application materials must
be received by the College no later than Jan. 31, 2023, for consideration for the
2023-2024 academic year.
Guests attending in person are encouraged to park in Lot A and enter through Door
6.
