Kishwaukee College offering new certificate in Organizational Leadership

Kishwaukee College has created a new Organizational Leadership certificate, which will be available to students in the Spring 2022 semester.

The certificate is designed for students seeking entry-level leadership positions within an organization while building necessary communication and business skills. Additionally, those currently employed and looking to advance in their careers can benefit from this certificate. Organizational leadership offers a wide range of career possibilities in today’s global marketplace. Students will prepare for positions in general management, business information management, human resources management, operations management and administrative support.

“This certificate is a great way to gain or expand leadership skills. The courses focus on real-world situations to help students understand and practice leadership,” said Tammy Tiggelaar, Associate Professor of Business and Marketing Management at Kishwaukee College. “Leadership is essential at all levels of an organization. No matter the industry, skills like problem-solving and decision-making are key.”

The program takes one year to complete and builds upon classes needed for Kish’s Supervision Basics Certificate. Students who wish to continue their education can use the Organizational Leadership certificate as a pathway to earn their Associate in Applied Science in Marketing Management or higher degrees.

Classes offered in the Spring semester include Human Relations, Introduction to Management and Leadership Development. These classes are being offered online, with regular class meetings happening via Zoom to allow students to participate in virtual class discussions and activities from anywhere.

The Spring 2022 semester begins Tuesday, Jan. 18. For more information, visit kish.edu or contact Academic Advising at advising@kish.edu or One-Stop at onestop@kish.edu.
