Passing a high school equivalency exam such as the GED can help further your career
and education
High School Equivalency (GED)
High School Equivalency
High School Equivalency (HSE) classes get you career and college ready. These free, pre-college classes help people
who don’t have a high school diploma earn a high school equivalency certificate (GED®).
Passing the HSE exam such as the GED can help you get a new job, promotion or qualify
for other forms of job training and post-secondary education assistance.
We believe everyone has the right to succeed and obtain an education. The Right to
Succeed program at Kish assists young adults between the ages of 16 to 21 to obtain
a high school equivalency certificate and get their lives moving forward. Instruction
in math, science, social studies and language arts are all part of the class. Contact
Julie Lieving, Transition Specialist, for more information on the Right to Succeed
program.

Sycamore High School in Sycamore, and Rochelle United Methodist Church in Rochelle.
We have classes in subjects such as language arts, social studies, math and science.
We cover adult basic and adult secondary skills equivalent to a high school education.
Classes can be taken in English or Spanish, depending on the semester.
We also offer a Citizenship class that provides an overview of the U.S. Citizenship
test including American history and government. Basic interviewing, test-taking and
writing skills — including grammar and vocabulary in American English — will be addressed.
Registration takes place before the start of each semester at the College and various
community sites. Late-start classes and late enrollment require registration at Kishwaukee
College.
Call 815-825-9420 to schedule a registration appointment. Please leave a clear message
with your name and phone number, and someone will contact you within 24 business hours.
Registration takes about three hours to complete. There are forms to complete and
orientation. A high school equivalency test covers many subjects and you may already
be competent in some of these areas. We want to make sure you take the classes you
need to pass the test. You will take a placement assessment during registration.
You can start the process early.
Step 1. Watch the video below (Spanish & English version available). Step 2. Download, fill out, and print the Registration Form. Step 3. Bring the completed form with you to Registration (dates can be found on this
schedule). Step 4. Plan up to three hours for assessment testing.
When you’re ready, you can take the GED through the Kish testing center or at a location near you. There are many resources to help you prepare. You will need to create an account with ged.com to register for the official GED® test.
personal va a determinar si necesita examenes adicionales.
