Illinois High School Diploma (IHSD) classes get you career and college ready. These
free pre-college classes will help you pass the IHSD exams, such as the GED®. Passing
the IHSD exams can help you get a new job, a promotion, or even qualify for job training.
An IHSD is the first step in pursuing a certificate or degree at a college. Earning
your IHSD can be an important step in building self-esteem and a sense of pride and
accomplishment.

A mix of in-person and hybrid classes will be offered at Kishwaukee College in Malta
and Westminster Presbyterian Church in DeKalb, Christ Community Outreach Center in
DeKalb, Sycamore High School in Sycamore, Rochelle United Methodist Church in Rochelle
and the Genoa Public Library in Genoa.
We have classes in subjects such as language arts, social studies, math and science.
We cover adult basic and adult secondary skills equivalent to a high school education.
Classes can be taken in English or Spanish, depending on the semester.
We also offer a Citizenship class that provides an overview of the U.S. Citizenship
test including American history and government. Basic interviewing, test-taking and
writing skills — including grammar and vocabulary in American English — will be addressed.
Registration takes place before the start of each semester at the College and various
community sites. Late-start classes and late enrollment require registration at Kishwaukee
College.

Registration takes about three hours to complete. There are forms to complete and
orientation. A high school equivalency test covers many subjects and you may already
be competent in some of these areas. We want to make sure you take the classes you
need to pass the test. You will take a placement assessment during registration.
You can start the process early.
Step 1. Watch the video below (Spanish & English version available). Step 2. Download, fill out, and print the Registration Form. Step 3. Bring the completed form with you to Registration (dates can be found on this
schedule). Step 4. Plan up to three hours for assessment testing.
When you’re ready, you can take the GED through the Kish testing center or at a location near you. There are many resources to help you prepare. You will need to create an account with ged.com to register for the official GED® test.

Kishwaukee College will host an open house for Career and Technology programs from 5-7 pm Wednesday, April 5, at Kish in the Caukin Building. The CTE Open House will allow prospective students to view Kish’s state-of-the-art labs and equipment and network with instructors and area employers.
The Kishwaukee College Foundation awarded $123,461 in program enhancement funds to Kishwaukee College departments for the 2022-2023 academic year. Funds support various needs, including educational support for instructors, new equipment, and testing services for students.
