Kishwaukee College’s Alpha Rho Eta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK)
welcomed 32 new members during the 2023-2024 academic year. The chapter inducted nine
of the new members in a candle-lighting ceremony held at the College on Wednesday,
April 17.
PTK is the largest honor society in higher education, with more than 3.5 million members
worldwide. The society recognizes the academic achievement of community college students
and provides opportunities to grow as scholars and leaders. To be eligible, students
must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours towards an associate degree and earn a
3.5 GPA or higher. Students must maintain a high academic standing throughout their
enrollment at Kish. Membership is by invitation only.
The following Kish students accepted their invitation to join PTK during the 2023-2024
academic year:

Corbin, Olivia De La O, James Dreska, Benjamin Dries, Brittney Duncan, Kevin Farlinger,
Julias Ferguson, Emily Garcia, Ashley Griffin, Melissa Huneke, Zara Hussain, Benjamin
Lam, Dan Le, Peyton Manis, Catherine Marsh, Asia Miller, Tijana Milovancevich, Gabriella
Norman, Vincent Pinter, Anna Ratliff, Caleb Romanowitz, Minerva Sandoval, Rebecca
Seldal, Juliana Torres, Angela Trujillo, Silvina Vargas, Andrea Weitenbeck and Asher
Wiegartz.
Barnes, Brackemyer, James Dreska (who joined in Spring 2023), Dries, Ratliff, Sandoval,
Trujillo, Vargas and Weitenbeck participated in the Spring 2024 induction ceremony.
The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Tim Anderson, PTK Chapter Advisor and Associate
Professor of Philosophy, and Makenzie Moser, PTK Chapter Member. College leadership
in attendance included Dr. Michelle Rothmeyer, Vice President of Student Services,
and Barbara Leach, Vice President of Instruction, who provided a welcome address for
the inductees and their guests.
