Kishwaukee College is pleased to announce its updated Strategic Plan following a year-long
process. The Kishwaukee College Board of Trustees voted to approve the new plan at
the October meeting.
“Updating the College Strategic Plan was a collaborative effort by our entire College
community. It is reflective of where we are now as an institution and looks to the
future on how we best serve our region going forward,” said Dr. Laurie Borowicz, President
of Kishwaukee College.
Kish’s Strategic Plan was last updated in 2018. The College sought to revise the plan
due to the changing landscape of higher education and the evolving needs of students
and the community. John Newton and Associates helped facilitate the strategic planning
process.
The new Strategic Plan provides updates to the College’s Mission, Vision and Equity
statements, as well as the College Values and Strategic Initiatives. New to the Strategic
Plan is a Purpose Statement, which guides an organization, telling the story of why
Kishwaukee College exists. The Purpose Statement reads:
“Kishwaukee College: Helping you create the life you want.”
“As a community college, it is important we continue to listen to feedback from our
stakeholders to inform our future decisions on how we can best serve our students.
The Strategic Plan provides us with a roadmap for the future direction of the College,”
said Bob Johnson, Board Chair.
Kish leadership initially began gathering information and ideas about updating the
Strategic Plan in August 2021 from Kish employees. Over the last year, Kish sought
feedback from students, the community and the Board of Trustees. The input and data
have been discussed and reviewed to craft the new Strategic Plan.
