Kishwaukee College partners with regional workforce agencies to help individuals build skills for in-demand careers through WIOA programs. Eligible participants receive career guidance, training opportunities and financial support, including assistance with tuition, books and other educational expenses.
Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA)
WIOA helps individuals gain the skills and training needed to enter a new career or advance in the workforce. Eligible participants may receive funding for approved training programs, career counseling and job search support.
- Career planning, employment guidance and community referrals
- Up to $10,000 in financial assistance for eligible students enrolled in approved high-demand programs at Kishwaukee College
- Assistance with tuition, books and training supplies
- Paid work experience opportunities to build skills in a field of interest
Through regional workforce partnerships, eligible individuals may qualify for support that helps cover the cost of workforce training for in-demand careers.
Because WIOA is grant-funded, participants must meet eligibility requirements. Individuals who meet one or more of the following may qualify:
- Ages 16–24
- Individuals age 25 and older should still complete the form and will be referred to the WIOA Adult program.
- Parent or pregnant
- Homeless or formerly in foster care
- Ex-offender
- Diagnosed mental or physical disability
- Currently unemployed or recently unemployed
- Low income or receiving public assistance
Funding may be available for approved programs including:
- Agribusiness
- Automotive Technology
- Basic Nursing Assistant
- Computer Information Systems
- Criminal Justice
- Diesel Power Technology
- Emergency Medical Services
- Google IT Support
- Marketing Management
- Medical Assistant
- Pharmacy Technician
- Radiologic Technology
- Registered Nursing
- Therapeutic Massage
- Truck Driver Training
- Welding Technology
Additional eligible programs may be available through the Illinois Workforce Development System.
