Kishwaukee College is committed to ensuring all learners know they are welcome and valued members of the College community. As such, we recognize that some students may choose to identify themselves using a preferred first name that differs from their legal name. The College will use a person’s preferred name wherever it is technically feasible. A preferred name is not required, and if it is not provided, a person’s legal name will be used. Display of a preferred first name is subject to approval by the Student Services office. Chosen names cannot be used for fraudulent or illegal purposes.
A preferred first name will be used in the following ways:
In some instances, a legal name must be used regardless of an individual’s preferred name. Examples of these include:
A preferred name and preferred pronouns can be entered when a student applies or at any time during their enrollment. To update this information, please email the Student Services office at onestop@kish.edu from your student email account.
Kishwaukee College has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide enrollment and degree verifications. Verifications may include proof of enrollment for student loan deferments, employment, insurance, and scholarships. The National Student Clearinghouse can be contacted at http://nscverifications.org.

Kishwaukee College's financial or physical hardship withdrawal process is intended to limit debt owed by students who have to withdraw from the institution due to a significant financial or physical hardship and to assist those students if and when they choose to re-enroll. Types of hardships shall include but are not limited to:
A student may submit a Tuition and Hardship Appeal Form with supporting documentation to the Student Services Office, C2100, or email onestop@kish.edu. The submission of a Tuition and Hardship Appeal does not automatically result in a refund. All Hardship Appeals are reviewed on a monthly basis by an interdepartmental committee.
There is no appeal process for students who received financial aid and owe funds back. The U.S. Department of Education mandates a specific refund calculation if a student receives Pell, Direct Loans, and FSEOG financial aid and has withdrawn from and/or failed all coursework. Depending on the financial aid received, the student may be responsible for repaying some or all the aid back to the College if they withdraw, regardless of circumstances.
Students who owe a balance to the College and wish to return are eligible to take advantage of the Debt Relief program, which upon completion of their certificate or degree, will result in the cancellation of debt incurred prior to re-enrollment. Please make an appointment with your assigned advisor at www.kish.edu/advising, or email us at advising@kish.edu for more information.
