Our computer-aided design program has a reputation—we're known for placing students into a job market where there are more jobs than people to fill them. Our grads are sought for their comprehensive knowledge base that includes contemporary CAD methods reinforced with traditional manual methods. Get the fundamentals of drafting or designing to transform a concept into a precise plan for production.
In our computer-aided design program, you may:
- Earn a certificate or an Associate in Applied Science degree
- Choose from two specialties: architectural design or mechanical design
- Learn on the most current releases of AutoCAD®, Inventor® and SolidWorks® CAD software
- Master the craft alongside industry professionals with real world experience

Program Details
- Prepare for an entry-level drafter or designer position in various industries including manufacturing, construction, wholesale trade and more.
- The National Career Clusters Framework created a tool to help you find a career that suits your interests and skills. Our CAD program is part of the Architecture & Construction career cluster.
- We have articulation agreements with most major Illinois state universities. Students who plan to transfer to a 4-year university of architecture and engineering are increasingly expected to know CAD system operations before attendance.
- It is recommended students download syllabi from the department's Brightspace® course shells and ask the intended university of transfer for an evaluation BEFORE transfer from Kish.
- Students interested in pursuing a degree or certificate in CAD are encouraged to speak with their academic advisor for career or transfer planning.
- A variable tuition rate applies to this program.
