Transfer Planning

Transfer Planning

Student Services offers an array of resources and services to assist students in making a smooth and successful transition from Kishwaukee College to a four-year institution. The Advising Team will work with students to map out academic plans, to help select appropriate courses for college majors, and to assist with researching potential transfer schools.

The Transfer Process

Articulation is the process where one college matches its courses or requirements to course work at another college or university.

Here are a few of the ways to approach the transfer process:

  1. Earn a degree in any of the programs Kishwaukee College offers
  2. Complete the Illinois Articulation Initiative General Education Core before transferring, requiring a minimum of 37 semester hours.
  3. Use MyCreditsTransfer and learn how courses transfer between Kishwaukee College and other participating institutions in Illinois.
  4. When you have selected the school you would like to transfer to, it is important that you review their specific admission and course requirements; Kishwaukee College has many articulations agreements with various colleges.
Transferring to NIU

Are you interested in attending NIU after completing your coursework at Kish? Kishwaukee College has many partnerships with NIU and now offers a convenient opportunity for students to meet with an NIU Admissions Counselor on the Kish campus.

An NIU Admissions Counselor will be on the Kishwaukee College campus once a month from 9 am-2 pm. You can make an appointment to talk to the Admissions Counselor and learn more about how to easily make the transition from Kish to NIU. To schedule a time to speak to an NIU Admissions Counselor. The day of your appointment, please check in at the Kishwaukee College Student Services Office, C2100.
