The Kishwaukee College Foundation announced the creation of the Dr. Robert & Diane
Hammon Endowment. The new endowment provides need-based grants to Sycamore High School
graduates attending Kishwaukee College who have demonstrated community involvement.
“We have always wanted to contribute to the Kishwaukee College Foundation to help
students. It’s an opportunity to give back to the community through Kishwaukee College
and help students who have been active in their communities, allowing them to further
their education,” said Dr. Robert Hammon.
The Hammons have been active in numerous community organizations for decades, holding
leadership positions in the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce and the Sycamore and Kishwaukee
Sunrise Rotary clubs. Diane has served the community as a real estate professional
since 1984. Dr. Hammon was Assistant Superintendent for Sycamore Community School
District from 1984-1992 and Superintendent from 1992-2005. Dr. Hammon has served on
the Kishwaukee College Board of Trustees since 2011 and currently serves as Vice Chair.
The Dr. Robert & Diane Hammon Endowment is available to Sycamore High School graduates
— recent or otherwise — who demonstrate financial need and submit a written statement
describing their community involvement and how those experiences have shaped their
personal growth, values and future goals.
“We are thankful for the Hammons’ thoughtful donation. Their support of community
involvement and their generosity will make a meaningful difference for our community
and students at Kishwaukee College for years to come,” said Courtney Walz, Executive
Director of the Kishwaukee College Foundation.
