Kishwaukee College's Continuing Education Veterinary Assistant Program

The Kishwaukee College’s Continuing Education department is offering the Veterinary Assistant program July 23-December 22, 2023, in a hybrid format.

The Veterinary Assistant program prepares students to work in an entry-level position in an animal hospital. It is a great way to explore a career in veterinary medicine before committing to a degree program. The program spans 20 weeks and includes an externship component.

Veterinary assistants play a crucial role in veterinary staff, providing support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians during medical procedures for sick and injured animals. They are also trained in examination techniques, customer relations, and veterinary hospital office procedures.

Lecture will be delivered online/live via Zoom on Tuesdays (3–6 pm). Labs will be conducted on Thursdays (5-8 pm) at Ashton Animal Clinic in Ashton.

The cost of the class is $2,250 and includes textbook and all lab supplies, and coordination of the externship. Kishwaukee College also offers a payment plan option to assist students with managing the cost. Due to limited availability, interested individuals are encouraged to secure their spot early.
