Equity at Kish

Kishwaukee College’s values of equity and support show our commitment to welcoming and valuing all learners and members of the Kish community. We believe everyone deserves an affordable, quality education, and any barriers or completion gaps must be addressed. In the spring of 2019, Kish joined the Illinois Equity in Attainment Initiative (ILEA), the signature initiative of the Partnership for College Completion (PCC). Along with 27 other colleges and universities, Kish committed to the goal of eliminating the achievement gap for students of color and low-income students. Through these efforts, Kish was recognized with the 2022 Equity and Diversity Award by the Illinois Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA).

Kish continues the great work to reduce barriers and close achievement gaps. We continue to execute our Equity Plan and implement the best strategies to support all students who choose Kish. You can find more of our current data and plans in the following:

Join Kishwaukee College for a presentation by storyteller Ronnie Preston. The event is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. Preston is a member of the San Carlos Apache Nation and is the Cultural and Educational Programs Director at the American Indian Center in Chicago. Preston also has more than 30 years of experience as an accomplished pow-wow singer, dancer, regalia maker, hoop dancer, artist, and performer.

Kish College to host Early College Program, EMSA info sessions

Kishwaukee College will host three upcoming information sessions for high school students interested in the Early College Program or Engineering, Math & Science Academy (EMSA). The information sessions are open to current high school sophomores and juniors along with their parents/guardians.

Kish College Foundation recognizes Matt Duffy with Distinguished Alumni Award

Matt Duffy, Executive Director of the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, was awarded the 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award at the Kishwaukee College Foundation Annual Gala on Saturday, Nov. 2. The award honors established alumni who have demonstrated service or outstanding contributions within the Kish community.
